Dearest Football Heroes,

With the sad loss of my beloved father, Freddie Fox (May His Dear Soul Rest In Peace), I am compelled to communicate our family's gratitude to you all.

Each one of you constituted a rock for my Dad. Your unshakable love, your loyalty and your family connection to Freddie breathed life into his soul. You all gave Freddie the gift of life and the will and drive to live on. He absolutely adored you all and cherished you as his soul family.

Our daily conversations were filled with Freddie's enthusiastic accounts of who passed him the ball, who played a skillful game, who put Maradona to shame, who had the latest love scuffle; which goalie let him score a goal, which defender let him dribble on, and who carried him off the pitch. You see, Freddie was inspired by you boys. And some how, he felt that by living on as a true legend and fighting for life until his very last breath, that he would inspire you all to do the same.

I feel its also important to convey that all Dad ever really wanted was for 'everyone' to be, and feel, connected – both on, and off, the pitch. Well, that was his prayer anyway.

Thank you to all of you for your unconditional support and love through this difficult time. Its impossible for me to thank you enough. Please know that it meant the world over to our Living Legend, Superstar, Freddie Fox - and to Krysia and I.

I have received from you all a very very generous financial offering of support for helping with the cost of the funeral and surrounding circumstances. I have tried very hard to reject this inconceivable gesture, however, the force of your sincere and genuine giving hearts was too strong. There is no way that I can express enough gratitude to you all for this, and for all that you have done. You make me feel very humble and proud that my Dad was so lucky to win an unbreakable soul family like you all.

Your generous bonds of friendship and family will live on forever, just as our beloved Freddie will live on forever, in our hearts.

The loss is still so very recent and surreal for me, so please forgive my very poor ability to communicate effectively and as thoughtfully as I would have liked to.

With great love, respect and honour,

Freddie's Son,

Adam

And this from Gustavo in Brasil and Glenn Osborne from SBS.

Hello John,

I'm really sorry about Freddie. I must to confess that I spent some time reading your e-mail and trying to understand "other thing". Unfortunately it's true. I'm quite in shock right now. He was a nice person to me, very kind one.

He keeps being an inspiration to me!

John, even though Freddie passed away, I like to think and imagine how was our matches when left
Melbourne. I like to think you guys playing every saturday and I want to think that this saturday Freddie was there. For me John, Freddie is still alive in my memorie like you, Richie, Johnny, Vadim, Gus, Chris, Amir, etc. I really love to wake up every saturday and remind my routine going to Albert Park. But then I realise that the match has already been played.

I like to keep up with this memories and Freddie will be always there, every saturday.

Be well my friend. He is in a great place now. I'm sure!

A big hug,
Gus

Hi John,

I'm very sad to hear that.  My condolences to all of you.

It's great that he was able to keep playing as long as he did though, I'm sure he got a lot of joy out of it.

Best of luck to you all.

Cheers.

Glenn.

All other wishes were in our Guestbook, now no longer.

Thank you to ALL for your pre match minute silence, and to Jamie (Canada), who made the trip with 2 little kids to pay his respects.

All of you were the reason Freddie was inspired to play up until Saturday the 26th of February '11, just before his re-admission into The Alfred, but it is us that have been touched by his endearing spirit.

He has set us the highest of benchmarks.

And remember, it may once have been about the game, but it has always been about us. A family, his family, your family.

Keep it beautiful, and respect his memory.

Johnny

Rest in Peace dear friend.
